Finding a Job the Old School Way – Old Job Hunting Tips that May Bring New Results

Did You Know that These Job Hunting Tips May Help You Land A Job And More?

Do you need help finding a job? If you’re a fresh graduate, the job hunting world may look new to you. Thankfully there are a myriad of tools that can help you land that job in line with your chosen field. However, although there are online techniques you can use to find your first job, you shouldn’t rely on them fully. You should be able to utilize other job hunting tips.

While everyone is busy sending in their resumes online, you can actually spend time away from the web and use these neglected methods in job hunting.

#1 – Networking

Oftentimes, it’s hard to be a fresh graduate. There will always be a person more experienced than you. That’s why it will be more challenging to get a job. However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t get a job. There are some who get the chance to get hired 1-2 months from graduation, while others have to wait at least 4-5 months. Don’t be one of those people. Do some networking.

What’s networking? Basically, instead of you finding work online or on your own, you get the help of others. Having more connections, they might be able to get you a job. For example, your parents might know someone who has their own company or you might have an uncle who can get you in their company.

It’s worth a shot right? From there, you can widen your own network of friends and acquaintances in the future.

#2 – The Newspaper Way

The paper may not be as obsolete as you think. Although it’s better to use online classified ads rather than those found in the paper, you should shift your sights to other parts of the paper like the business section. It may be that you’re not interested in the news but you can just scan the section. Look for articles about certain companies. These may tell you whether or not you should be expecting them to expand in the future.

Always read between the lines and look to other sections! You never know you might find your job in the most unexpected places. Besides that, you’ll also get to learn about current events, which can be a big factor in some jobs.

#3 – Create Your Own Job Hunting Strategy

Although you should listen to elders and those who have had experience in job hunting, never ever forget to try to make your own advice. Meaning, you don’t always have to listen to other people. Try out different job hunting strategies. What works for them might not work for you and vice versa.

You should also forget to take jobs because people tell you that what you want won’t create a stable future. Remember, if there’s a will, there’s a way. Just pursue the job you want and from there, you’ll find out your own answers. It’s better to have tried and failed than to never have tried ever at all.
